8. I'm starting my first janitorial business and don't know how to get new jobs. Money is very short and I don't know where to begin. What do I do?
When you're starting out and the finances are low, there are a couple of things you can do. It will take dedication by you and a commitment to making it happen. Anyone can do it, but only those truly committed will win!We recommend the following:
- Write up a telemarketing script. A basic form can be found in the BigMop.com form vault to use for this.
- Write up a message that you can memorize, that takes no longer than 15 seconds to read. This is the amount of time you have your customers attention, and you need to say what they want to hear in that time frame. An example would be "Hi, I'm Jonathan with BigMop.com. Have you heard of us before? We are a high quality janitorial service that is new to your area and we are looking for new customers interested in great service for a great deal! I have been in the industry for 8 years and have made many clients happy with our service and I want you to be the first in your area to enjoy these benefits. All we need to do is do a 5 minute walk through of your location and then I will provide you a great price. All you have to say is yes. Let's see what you need done!" This may seem aggressive, but you have to be in order to build the business.
- Open the phone book and start calling those businesses you are interested in servicing, using the telemarketing script. The ones I started with were attorneys, health clubs, car dealerships, and dentist offices. They are all fairly simple to get into, but they take hard work.
- To alternate with the telemarketing, get out and hit the pavement. Walk around a targeting area and recite your "15 second" pitch.
- You will receive a lot of NO's! Remember, the more no's you get, the closer you are to a YES!
- Work hard and never give up!!!
